Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! It was beautiful weather here on the Westcoast and though today is a wet and gray mess, yesterday was warm, sunny and lovely. We ate our first dinner of the year outside last night, and by the smells of BBQ's and sounds of laughter, we weren't the only ones in our neighborhood who did so. I love turning the calendar over to May, it just feels like the beginning of something good, you know?
So yesterday was the annual TC 10K Race, and I ran through the streets of Victoria along with my beautiful mother-in-law, darling sister-in-law and 13, 000 other people.
nope, that's not us in the front, we're way in the back...
nope, not us either, still way back there...
a beautiful seaside route...think I might see us in the back...
running under cherry blossoms that I'm sure were cheering us on!
After the run, we finished off the morning at my mother-in-law's home and gave a toast to ourselves with Mimosa's!
We deserved it!
And for a bit now I have been thinking of perhaps running a half marathon, so this morning I decided to take the plunge and I registered for the upcoming race in October. Why? Don't ask, I'm not sure why. I guess just to see if I can? To be able to say that I did? I don't know, but when I told my sister I believe her exact words were "Ew!". Which somewhat mirror my own words because when I asked my husband what he thought the average time would be to complete a half marathon, he said somewhere around two hours and I think I said "Blech!". Because right now, the idea of running for two whole hours scares me. But I'm going to train, and hopefully I'll be able to finish the run in October. Wish me luck on the training!
Have a wonderful week!
I've seen how addicting running is with my friends. That half will soon be a full marathon. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteWell done you and V. and Kate! Brilliant all of you. Lindsay ran it too here in Toronto, to a brilliant time of 58 mins...very proud of herself!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with October Trish...you can do it, just stick with the training...slow and steady wins the race!
Good for you!! Just the fact that you think you can even attempt the half is a sure sign that it'll be a piece of cake when the time comes...and just think, in October, you'll have the beautiful fall leaves to the do the cheering for you! Very inspirational!

Razmataz ~ It can be rather addicting, I think maybe because it is a good way to clear the mind. i'm not too sure about the full marathon though! :)
ReplyDeleteJ ~ Good for Lindsay! Great time!
24C ~ I thought that too of the leaves! Early fall is one of my favorite times of the year!
