...away.
We bought our tickets!
This August, my husband, myself and our eldest son are going away
to the city so nice they named it twice!

I have never been there,
but have always wanted to go!
Now it is happening,
and I am oh so excited about it!
And the reason for our travels? My husband will be competing in
the World Police and Fire Games 2011.
He will ride for 3 days, racing in 3 different types of mountain biking ~
Downhill, Cross-country, & Dual Slalom.

The only things on the itinerary so far, besides the racing, are
a Sunday Yankees Game
(versus the Toronto Jays who happen to be hubby's hometown team!)
and a day spent at Coney Island
(we will certainly be riding the Cyclone, as I love roller coasters!).
Have you ever been to New York? Did you love it?
And tell me if you know of or have heard of ,
a MUST-SEE
bakery
restaurant
or boutique.
I am all ears!
We love your blog and we are always checking the news.

What a great time you and your family will have. New York is such an exciting city!
ReplyDeleteI live an hour north of the city but my daughters always enjoyed visiting the top of the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, American Museum of Natural History, a ride on the Staten Island Ferry, Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Central Park, The Bronx Zoo, The Metropolitan Museum of Art.........................................and p.s. they still love doing all of the above! There's so much to see and do..... Have a wonderful time! Looking forward to your post vacation post!
I'm excited for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I was in NY, the last time was a quick visit when we attended Sobethy's Auction of Andy Warhol's immense collection of belongings (came home with two of his flower vases) We also went to a concert at Carnegie Hall. A carriage ride through Central park was lovely, and of course in a city that never sleeps we went to a movie at two o'clock in the morning...don't ask me what it was because unlike NY...I like to sleep! There is also the Guggenheim Museum!... I think I can hear #1 son yawning!
Joy x 100 my sweet friend...I love love NYC...it really is the best city in the world!
ReplyDeleteWishing your husband lots of blessings in his competition. xo
You will have so much fun. My brother lives there and I really need to go visit, I haven't been in so long....
ReplyDeleteBakery....The Cupcake Cafe. Have the vanilla buttercream.
Shopping...Fishseddy for cool vintage dishes etc.
Wow Trish...whatever you do,you will have a fabulous time for sure! Just walking in NY is my favourite thing to do. Rudy and I have been a few times and we love to find a neighbourhood and explore it, hunting down th local delis and coffee shops.
ReplyDeleteMake sure Jay has his Revo with him for the games. The biking community here in Niagara have taken to it big time!
Rogerio ~ Thanks! After visiting your blog, I can see you are very talented. Pretty things on there!
ReplyDeleteArtful Cottage ~ You have given me so many great things to check out! Thank-you! Just looked up the Sea, Air & Space Museum, and that is going on the list for sure! My son Jack will be all over that! And with the simulators? He will be blown away!
Victoria ~ I love that you fell asleep in the movie! I would too! And you must show me what vases those are, I would love to know!
Koralee ~ Your thoughts made me smile! Thanks for your sweet words!
Razmataz ~ Thanks for the recommendations! I am checking out both of those for sure, I'm looking forward to spending a day just seeking out cool places like that.
Jacqueline ~ Love that idea of finding a neighborhood and expoloring it! I had mentioned to John that I hoped we could do that, you know really get familiar with one particular area where we have 'our' coffee shop, bakery, deli. Love the memories that come from a trip like that.
And I will remind him of the Revo!
HELLO!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying a wonderful summer so far. We have been busy, busy, busy. Graduation open house (I think Lib took pictures for me...) and then family vacation (I know Lib took pics for me...)
You will have a wonderful time on your trip. One Day I want to visit Kate's Paperie. I think I could spend an entire day there. Enjoy all your planning. For me, anticipation is half the fun!
Kate
How wonderful Trish!!! I've never been but if I do ever get the chance...Balthazar's (like the cookbook) is tops on the list (they have a bakery too). Coney Island sounds like the perfect New York experience...that's going to be so much fun! So cool that your husband is competing...he must be training hard right about now in preparation...very inspiring!
ReplyDeletexo J~
Auntie Cake ~ I am having a wonderful summer! And I am in the same camp as you ~ the anticipation is half the fun, isn't it!
ReplyDelete24C ~ Never thought of Balthazar's! Thank-you! Gosh, so much to see! And my husband has been training hard, though at the moment he has a 'man cold' so not so much lately! :)
