A is for...

...away.

We bought our tickets!
This August, my husband, myself and our eldest son are going away
to the city so nice they named it twice!

I have never been there,
but have always wanted to go!
Now it is happening,
and I am oh so excited about it!

And the reason for our travels? My husband will be competing in
the World Police and Fire Games 2011.
He will ride for 3 days, racing in 3 different types of mountain biking ~
Downhill, Cross-country, & Dual Slalom.

The only things on the itinerary so far, besides the racing, are

a Sunday Yankees Game

(versus the Toronto Jays who happen to be hubby's hometown team!)

and a day spent at Coney Island

(we will certainly be riding the Cyclone, as I love roller coasters!).

Friday finds from Etsy

Yikes! Where is the time going? I have been knee deep in wedding plans, and this past week has just come and gone.

Things are starting to really get underway with the wedding I am planning. Up until this point, it was mostly just ideas floating around in my head, but now with just a few months to go, we are flying around and finalizing all the fun details.

It goes without saying that most of the wedding trimmings are coming from some fabulous shops we have found on Etsy...it is just too easy to not utilize the one-stop shopping!

So with many hours this week spent perusing on Etsy, here are just a few of the lovelies that have caught my eye.

Over in my neck of the woods, we'll be celebrating this man on Sunday ~

We're just going to spend a quiet day around the house,

probably make him some mile-high pancakes in the morning.

It's Dad though who is famous around here for his pancakes,

and my boys haven't failed to remind me of this!

They have even subtly suggested we just make

eggs for him instead!

But whether the menu calls for eggs or pancakes,

this Dad deserves a special day

just for him.

He is a really good man, and an even better Dad!

No doubts about it!

5-minute face

Let's talk make-up!

Here are my favorite 5-minute face products...

Bobbi Brown Extra SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm

in Light Tint

Love.love.love this!

It provides a creamy, yet light coverage for the face, blending wonderfully, and giving skin a flawless, dewy look.

Skin looks hydrated and pretty.

Also looks great when set with just a bit of face powder.

And it smells amazing!

Mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint

I have this creamy blush tint in Cheeky, Berry, & Nude. All are great colors! I prefer cream blushes for the face, I think they create a more natural flush to the cheeks.

And you can't beat the price tag at $8 a blush!

MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom
This is a pretty soft beige, with just a hint of shimmer. A color I wear almost everyday.

Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener
I have yet to find a concealer I like, most are too heavy for my taste. This is a fabulous product that my sister first got me on to. It instantly wakens and brightens the delicate under eye area. Love!

L'Oréal Voluminous Mascara

I can justify a splurge for good foundation, face creams, and the like. But for mascara, I'm a drug store girl. This is my favourite, in blackest black.

MAC Plushglass in Ample Pink

I love this lipgloss! It is a pretty nude-pink, adding just a bit of pink to my natural lips. Love it!

It is one of those plumping glosses so it does tingle on your lips. I'm a bit skeptical that these plumping products really work, I have yet to be convinced, but I do so love this color!

Earlier this year, my Mother-in-Law and her sister both wrote similar beauty posts over at their delightful shared blog, Beauty in the Ordinary, and I so enjoyed reading them.
