The dog days of summer are coming to an end!

It is just wrong that it will be September next week! Like, really?  Does it feel that way for you too?  I know, I know, people as a whole are inclined to say 'well this summer just flew by", but for me, it really did this year.  Perhaps the late start on our warm and sunny weather had much to do with that?  It's just hard to believe that summer is coming to an end.

But! Enough complaining for me, because this girl is now officially on holidays!  And I have two wonderful weeks off and nowhere to go and nothing to do...oh, wait, that's right, I'm going to a little place called...

...NEW YORK!

So, yep, I'm pretty excited!  Flying out next Tuesday, back the following Thursday, and then off to a pretty, local island called Galiano for my girlfriends wedding.  This is the wedding that I have been planning, that I have been pouring my time and love into.  Aside from a few details that Misty and I have gone over, she has left most of the planning up to me.  Which has been fun and overwhelming all at different times!  So it will be a surprise wedding of sorts.  I will share photos when I return!

Looking forward to the weekend ~ although if today is any indicator it looks like it might be a wet, gray one.  Husband will be working nights, so it is
date night tonight for me and my boys.  We saw that Netflix has
'The Great Outdoors' so we will put that on later, and cuddle up with some pizza and popcorn.  Both my boys find good old fashioned, slap-stick humour hilarious, so I'm sure the bear scene will be a hit!

Off to the florist tomorrow to order flowers for the wedding.  We have purchased a lovely collection of milk glass bud vases and aqua blue mason jars that are waiting to be filled!  We have a general idea of the flowers we would like to have,
~ hydrangeas, cabbage roses, dahlias, snapdragons ~
and would love to have them in abundance, so here's hoping we can make that idea and the budget marry wonderfully together!

Happy Canada Day!

It's a long weekend for the Canadian crowd,

as we celebrate our country's 144th birthday today.

There's much happening around the city of Victoria this weekend, with markets, kids activities, music performances, and of course,
fireworks downtown in the Inner Harbour.
Not sure yet what we'll make our way towards, but it will be
a weekend of celebration to be sure!

Yikes! Where is the time going?  I have been knee deep in wedding plans, and this past week has just come and gone.

Things are starting to really get underway with the wedding I am planning.  Up until this point, it was mostly just ideas floating around in my head, but now with just a few months to go, we are flying around and finalizing all the fun details. 

It goes without saying that most of the wedding trimmings are coming from some fabulous shops we have found on Etsy...it is just too easy to not utilize the one-stop shopping!
